MANUAL THERAPY
THERAPEUTIC MASSAGE

A range of techniques can be employed to target specific tissue conditions:
Effleurage
Petrissage
Tapotement
Cross Fibre friction
Myofascial Release
Lymphatic Drainage
TARGETTED STRETCHING
Certain muscles may or may not benefit from stretching. After an assessment, this will allow me to ensure stretching is carried out where it is much needed, and where it should be avoided.

A stretching regime can also be put in place for yourself to utilise after physio appointments.
PASSIVE RANGE OF MOTION
Very beneficial after surgery and/or injury.
However, it is important to carry out this technique correctly to avoid injury.
Benefits:
Increase flexibility
Reduce pain
Maintain joint health (synovial fluid production and diffusion)
Promote collagen alignment
REMEDIAL EXERCISE

PROPRIOCEPTION & BALANCE
Proprioceptive and balance training are beneficial for the precision of coordinated movements and posture.
They aslo serve importance in early recovery due to reducing injury risk, by improving body awarness, strength and mobilitly.

FLEXIBILITY & RANGE OF MOTION
Range of motion (ROM) is important for overall movement and especially joint health.
Improving flexibility is not only important for athletic ability but can also reduce the risk of injury as well as improve comfort.

GAIT IMBALANCES & COMPENSATIONS
Gait abnormalities can be caused by a number of reasons. As animals tend to hide injuries/illnesses very well, often the problem isn't found until it has become severe.
Maintenance physio can ensure these compensations can be caught early, and therefore treated early.

STRENGTH, ENSURANCE & FITNESS
There is an abundance of exercises that can be put together to achieve a specific goal. Ideally, a combination of strength and endurance should be executed in order to build up your pet to optimal levels. However, specific sporting training regimes can also be put together to help your pet reach their athletic abilities.
